Noussair Mazraoui returns to service

Noussair Mazraoui is available to take part, with Manchester United, in the match against Brentford at Old Trafford on Saturday, a week after undergoing heart surgery, announced his coach Erik Ten Hag.

Mazraoui came off at half-time of United’s final game before the international break at Aston Villa after complaining of palpitations and underwent a procedure to correct the problem.

But the Moroccan defender returned to training this week and United manager Erik ten Hag confirmed he is available to face Brentford.

“Mazraoui’s return is good news. He was ill but returned to the training ground and is available for selection tomorrow”declared the Dutchman.

The player signed by United for £17million this summer from Bayern Munich could be straight back on the pitch as United continue to face problems at full-back.

While Mazraoui has started all but one game at right-back this season, Diogo Dalot has replaced Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia on the left side during the latter’s extended absences. Both are back in training, but Malacia has not played for United since March 2023 and Shaw since April this year.
