Guardiola hails Txiki’s impact and support

Pep Guardiola has paid glowing tribute to our Director of , Txiki Begiristain, saying he will be sorely missed when he leaves City.

After twelve magnificent seasons, Txiki Bergiristain will leave his position at Manchester City at the end of the 2024/25 season.

Pep affirmed this Friday in a pre-match press conference against Wolves that the trust between the two men is invaluable and that their successful relationship will have shaped unforgettable memories within the Club.

“A part of me is leaving, I would say” Guardiola said.

“I had known about his decision for a while for personal and family reasons. I know how much he values his experience here. »

“Personally, I will miss him. A lot. For his confidence, especially in bad times, because he allowed me to find a balance in my work because I have a lot of energy and when things go badly, I want to destroy everything and all the time he said to me ‘see you tomorrow, take a day off’. He helped me a lot in Barcelona and here too, of course. »

“But I have the feeling that the Club is solid, incredibly well structured and the Club must move forward” he insisted on adding.

Asked about a potential departure at the end of the season at the end of his contract, Pep Guardiola said that his mind was only on “Wolves and the return of players to the selection”.

“I have said several times that I have not yet made my decision and when I do I will let you know 100%. »

Regarding our trip to Molineux Stadium, the City manager brought news of Nathan Aké and Kevin De Bruyne, both back in training. However, the Catalan technician was not optimistic about their participation in Sunday’s match.

“They are training and during the last session, Nathan did his first training with the team. Maybe they can come [à Wolverhampton]but they are not ready to start. »

Facing Wolves, last in the Premier League with a single point, the Cityzens will try to maintain their unbeaten streak since the start of the season. But Guardiola expects a tough test.

“They have fewer points than they deserve, from what I saw during the international break,” Pep said.
