Puy-l’Évêque. 80 participants in the Chrono46 Robert-Serres race

The 21st edition of the “Chrono 46 Robert-Serres” event finally took place in good weather conditions in Puy-l’Évêque. The rainy morning of Saturday October 12 caused some problems for the organizers, but an autumn sun dried the roads and the race took place without a hitch.

At 2:30 p.m., flaggers were in place to screen vehicles wanting to use part of the roads used by cyclists coming from throughout the greater South-West. The circuit with a length of 11.2 km to be covered twice in the middle of the vineyards did not present any difficulty, which allowed the winners in the scratch classification, Yann Valna and Noé Lefèvre, members of the club, to exceed the speed 46 km/hour (in 28′ 58″).

This year, the former president of the regional cycling federation, Henri Lafargue, provided very precise chronometric equipment in order to avoid any dispute. The speaker Jean-Louis Gauthier animated the event with his perfect knowledge of the cycling world, while the president of the local club Jean-Claude Turmo, and his group (Alain Cassan, Michèle Deltreuil, Jean-Jacques Simonneau…) resolved the problems inherent to this test.

As in all so-called “gentlemen’s” races, there are two results: scratch and compensated time, for which progressive bonuses are granted for those over 50. The announcement of the results and the awarding of prizes took place at the Puy-l’Évêque village hall; the deputy mayor Jean-Louis Da Costa presented trophies, medals and cups, without forgetting the bottles of Cahors. Martin Cazel and Maurice Morris (French – English) finished 2nd overall; 3rd Julien Gabriel and Cyril Bettous (). The Puy-l’Évêquoise pair Jean-Jacques Simonneau / Joël Florenty finished in 24th place (41 teams registered). Victory among the ladies for Gwenaëlle Legendre and Raphaëlle Assoumou from Cahors cycling; Damien Lapouges and Johanna Müller (Cahors triathlon) winners in the mixed category.

On corrected time with a bonus of 10′ 20″, victory for Dominique and Jean-Philippe Cosio ahead of Prayssac Cyclo representatives Claude Héraud/Michel Mersseman; Christian Arrade and Pascale Lacoste being the first in the “mixed” category.

Next competition: the Montcuq cyclo-cross on October 26.
