League of Nations: -Israel at the Stade de and open to the public

The Nations League match between the French team and the Israeli team, scheduled for November 14, will take place at the Stade de and “will of course be open to the public“, announced Tuesday the prefect of police Laurent Nuñez in a press release. For several weeks, the question of whether this meeting of the 5th day of the League of Nations would be played behind closed doors or in the presence of the public had been asked due to the context of war in the Middle East.

In July, Belgium’s home match against Israel for the first day of the League of Nations was relocated to Debrecen, Hungary and was played behind closed doors. “Given that in Belgium, no local administration considered it possible to organize the home match of the Red Devils against Israel on Friday September 6, the Royal Belgian Football Union had to look for a solution abroad“, explained the RBFA in a press release.

On June 19, the city of Brussels announced that the match would not be played at the King Baudouin stadium. The authorities had judged “impossible to organize this match at very high risk” on the territory of the city due to tensions linked to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. In the process, other Belgian cities also refused to host this match.
