This Monday, October 14, 2024, the
Girondins de competed in the 5th round of the French Cup outside facing the club
Bassens (Regional 2). The meeting was played at
Sainte-Germaine Stadium.

The players of Bruno Irles had to make a good impression and play seriously against an opponent three divisions inferior. They will take time before really getting into the match. Facing them, a Regional 2 team is determined not to make the match easy for them. The sides will be in demand, particularly with Soufiane Bahassa still very restless. For his first, Safouane Karim was rather discreet before showing his technical qualities on certain ball catches. The game is Bordeaux, midfielders Issam Ben Khemis and Adrien Louveau distribute the balls forward. But Yanis Merdji is clumsy in the last gesture. The former Concarneau player is still struggling to find his rhythm. We had to wait until the 40th minute to see the Girondins open the scoring through Issam Ben Khemis, on a good serve from Safouane Karim. Then three minutes later it was Nassim Ranem who scored with a header, from a good free kick from Soufiane Bahassa. Bordeaux leads 2-0 at the break.

In the second half, Bordeaux will be in control. Even if several players may not be in the game against Avranches in the championship, we seem to be saving ourselves a little. Bassens tries but has difficulty and the three divisions of difference are felt. After receiving a bad blow, Safouane Karim comes out and is replaced by Malick Seck. Bassens will finish the match at ten. Then it is Grain and Diaby who will appear four minutes later, in place of Bahassa and Louveau. The match, which was not very intense either, lost a little more quality on each side. Noah Ramon will also make his entrance, 12 minutes from the end. The Girondins will punctuate this match with a third goal from Jérémy Grain, on a beautiful cross from Ben Khemis, Bordeaux’s best player in this match.

Bordeaux therefore qualifies for the 6th round in a solid match defensively, and serious collectively. Draw this Thursday.
