An error on the Vendée Globe banners amuses Internet users

While the 2024 edition of the legendary Vendée Globe race will begin on November 10, it is this Saturday that the doors of the Vendée Globe village, in Les Sables-d’Olonne (Vendée), will open. A unique place that allows you to unite around the skippers and immerse yourself in the culture of this unique regatta in the world.

Internationally renowned, this solo sailing race around the world has become an unmissable sporting event for all water sports lovers. But a few weeks before the start of the race, it’s a small detail that seems to be making noise, as the Actu.fr site points out.

An error on the official banners

On the Facebook group “My life in Sables-d’Olonne”, a sharp-eyed Internet user shared a photo of the official banners which are installed in the Vendée Globe village. These banners proudly display the race record held by skipper Armel Le Cléac’h (74 days and 3 hours). Except that a size error crept in just below.

Indeed, just under the inscription of this record which dates from the last edition of the Vendée Globe, we can read “2016-2027”. Which would mean that the skipper would have taken no less than 11 years to complete a race that is not even finished yet. An error that makes Internet users smile a lot.
