It was a great Finnish evening for England on Sunday. Beaten to everyone’s surprise by Greece (2-1) Thursday in the Nations League, the team of interim coach Lee Carsley was reassured in Helsinki (3-1).
There is one who had an even better evening than the others: it is Trent Alexander-Arnold. The break goal came from the magic foot of the Liverpool defender, who scored a sublime free kick in the 75th. Gifted in this exercise, he was entitled to a little extra motivation.
“I came to joke with Trent just before he took the free kick,” revealed his partner Jack Grealish on ITC after the match. I told him: if you mark it, I’ll give you 500 pounds (editor’s note: 560 francs)! And he put the ball in the top corner.
With a salary estimated at 18 million euros this year, or around 1.5 million per month, Grealish should not have too much difficulty paying off his debt to his teammate in the selection.
