: Deschamps defends Mbappé after his club outing in Sweden

The coach of the team, Didier Deschamps, spoke out to defend his captain Kylian Mbappé, following a controversy concerning a nightclub outing in Sweden. While his teammates faced Israel in a Nations League match in Budapest, the injured Mbappé was seen at a club. A situation which quickly sparked debates in the media and on social networks.

Didier Deschamps, questioned on this subject, recalled that one should not see evil everywhere and that the notion of private life was almost non-existent for a player of Mbappé’s stature. “Is this wrong?” Is it good? This may be good or bad for others. I don’t want to defend him just for the sake of defending him, but it’s his private life. The problem is that for him, private life does not exist,” Deschamps explained during a press conference.

Within the team, the question of this exit did not cause concern. Aurélien Tchouaméni, who serves as captain in Mbappé’s absence, also downplayed the importance of the event. “We know that every time it comes to Kylian, it takes on disproportionate proportions. For us it doesn’t really matter,” he said.

Kylian Mbappé, left to rest for this international break due to an injury, will not participate in France’s match against Belgium. In his absence, Tchouaméni will continue to wear the captain’s armband for this crucial meeting in the Nations League, where France currently occupies second place in its group.
