Among the 54 Germans who arrived Thursday in Condé-sur-Noireau () to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the twinning with Elsenfeld, around ten football players from German club had an appointment with those of the FMCN for a friendly match.

Friday October 4, 2024, the international meeting brought together players aged 13 to 15 on the pitches of the Conterie stadium.

Football twinning

Arriving Thursday morning, the young Germans were able to benefit from “French-style training” in the afternoon led by the two Mixed Football educators. Condé-en- (FMCN) : Philippe Marifrom and Enzo Lasserre. Their German counterpart, Volker Roethelfor his part ensured the translation of the instructions.

The German players then joined their French families in the evening, as they were staying with the club’s players.

Return match

Last year, the players in the different categories of the FMCN had won their three matches in Elsenfeld. The return match was therefore scheduled for this Friday, October 4, with a reception after the match with the French host families.

But this year, it was the Germans who won 6 to 1, against a French team made up of U13s and U14s and few U15s.

Long friendship

During each of his trips to Germany as part of the twinning, Philippe Marie is each time hosted by Volker Roethel, and vice versa when the latter comes to .

“In 2019,” recalls Philippe Marie, “a German team even had participated in the club tournamentwhich coincided with the dates of the exchange.

A new match is already scheduled in July 2025, with the return of the French to Elsenfeld.
