The hunters’ last drink turns into a bistro brawl in Hotton

However, the latter, like the tenant, must answer for assault and battery against the two hunters.

“My customers came back to collect a forgotten mobile phone, then we jumped on them and knocked them to the ground”says Me Jean-Pierre Dardenne, hunters’ council, civil parties.

Self-defense invoked

On the defense side, we don’t have the same vision. The boss’s brother-in-law admits to having rejected the hunters when they returned to coffee, which they had already announced after being asked to leave the first time. His lawyer, Me Pierre Neuville, sees it as a form of self-defense because, according to him, his client did not have the will to fight. As for the blows the hunters received? “Other people present that evening may have taken advantage of it but that is not my client’s responsibility”said Me Neuville.

The owner of the café specifies that he did not hit anyone.

“This GSM thing doesn’t existestimates Mr. Pierre Franchimont, his lawyer. The civil parties themselves do not recognize anyone. There is definitely room for acquittal because there is more than a doubt.”

For the prosecution, substitute Amandine Martin also notes that the hunters were described as aggressive by the other customers present in the café that evening. But for her, the boss and his brother-in-law must nevertheless be declared guilty of assault and battery. However, taking into account the case and its seniority, a sentence of 3 months in prison is requested.

Judgment on November 8.
