beIN Sports and Ligue 1, the divorce announced

Ligue 1 is at an impasse while beIN Sports is currently refusing to pay its share of the TV rights provided for in the schedule.

Pressure is mounting in the Professional Football League. According to the terms of the deal concluded with DAZN and beIN Sports this summer regarding the television rights of
League 1 for the period 2024-2029, a first installment had to be paid before August 30. However, the Qatari media group did not honor this initial payment, demanding clarification from the League on the largesse granted to DAZN for the marketing of quasi-live broadcasts.

The pretext no longer passes with Ligue 1 clubs, who have been waiting for a month and a half for 24% of the sum promised by beIN Sports – i.e. 80 million euros for the rights to one match per day of the championship and 20 million euros of sponsorship. Impatient, OL has already put the LFP on notice for this breach, not without attacking the legitimacy of the partnership concluded with Qatar Tourism and imposed on all elite players.

The HAC intends to boycott beIN

Today, it’s ’s turn to go into battle. President Jean-Michel Roussier no longer hides his exasperation at the situation. The boss of the club has made it known that he would not accept the technical teams from beIN Sports at the Océane stadium if the HAC were to be affected by an L1 match scheduled for a Saturday at 5 p.m. – the broadcast slot reserved for the Qatari group . And this as long as beIN has not settled its debt.

According to L’Equipe, the double hat of Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, president of PSG and director of beIN Media Group, would be an additional reason for tension among the various representatives of the French championship in this period of extreme tension. Other clubs could very quickly follow the movement thus initiated by Le Havre.
