Maddox Dagenais is having an exceptional start in the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL), which is already drawing comparisons to Sidney Crosby, and it is in part thanks to the teachings of Éric Veilleux.
According to the 16-year-old young man, the head coach of the Quebec Remparts does not hesitate to shake him up when necessary. The forward asks for more, believing that he becomes a better hockey player every day thanks to the advice of people more experienced than him.

“Eric is tough on me, and that’s what’s going to take me to the next level. Every mistake I make in the match, he will tell me. At the end of the day, I’m going to become a better player,” he explained on Thursday’s show JiCon TVA Sports.
Dagenais already has six goals and 11 points on his record, in just seven games. The fact that he is the son of former Montreal Canadiens Pierre Dagenais and the best prospect in the QMJHL means that a lot of attention is directed towards him.
“It’s really flattering to read the journalists and the news, but I’m just trying to progress. In the short term, I try to store the baggage of coaches and reporters,” he assured.
Thanks to the good performances of Dagenais and the Cecchini circuit’s top scorer Justin Côté, the Remparts are off to a good start to the season. The Quebecer’s debut could not go better.
“I try to experience this as a team,” he said. The guys are so good and we have a great team spirit. On the ice, we really try to apply Eric’s game plan. It works well and I’m lucky to have 11 points.
