The Canadian may still not have his number one center, according to Simon Boisvert

At one time, the Montreal center line was so thin that the CH drafted Jesperi Kotkaniemi third overall in the 2018 draft.

The old management believed that it was going to be the savior, but a few years later, we noticed quite quickly that it was a disastrous selection.

Today, the team’s core league moving forward is Nick Suzuki, Kirby Dach and Michael Hage. Three players who have/will have a great career in the Bettman circuit. Despite everything, Simon Boisvert is not convinced that Suzuki is the team’s number one center. It’s not that he doesn’t like him, but according to him, there would be a possibility that Kent Hughes drafts a center in the next draft. This is what he said in the most recent episode of Process.

The Snake is of the opinion that Suzuki-Dach-Hage is a trio of 1A, 1B and 1C. He believes that the three could complement each other very well, but one of them could be moved to the wing in the top-6 for example to make room for the real number 1 center.

Who could it be?

It’s very early for a 2025 Mock Draft, but in this Tankathon Mock Draft, there are no less than six centers in the top-12. James Hagens (1st), Anton Frondell (3rd), Michael Misa (5th), Ivan Ryabkin (6th), Caleb Desnoyers (11th) and William Moore (12th). If the management wants to go for an attacker, there will be plenty of choice, especially since the CH, despite its victory yesterday, risks being drafted into the top-10… once again.

Although at the moment, Tankathon predicts that the CH will draft 25th with its choice (and 24th with the Flames’ choice). #StillUndefeated

In my opinion, the attack is in good hands for the future and I don’t see Montreal to waste a top-10 pick on a forward. Obviously it won’t be wasted, as a forward could be swapped for a defenseman, but if I were a member of management, I’d set my sights on Logan Henslert or Charlie Trethewey, both top right-handed defensemen. 10.

Aside from David Reinbacher, Montreal does not have any top right-handed prospects on the blue line. And with the likely departure of David Savard after the season (although personally, I would offer him another cheap pact), the right side of the defense leaves something to be desired for the future. Remember that Logan Mailloux also exists, but…

And we must also remember that Reinbacher will miss a good part of the season and that his position in the big club’s lineup in 2025-2026 is far from being cast in stone…
