The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) has suspended referee Elif Karaarslan (24) for life. The “woman in black” allegedly had alleged sexual relations with Orhan Erdemir (61), a referee inspector in the country. The TFF would have made this decision after viewing a sex tape between the woman who can be described as an influencer with her 385,000 followers and the man more than two and a half times her age.
“I will have a long way to go in court, but I will overcome this ordeal,” wrote the woman with the whistle, in a post liked by nearly 18,000 followers. I hope you will be able to give me your support and love in this long process ahead. Crying, screaming and being sad are not things I will do in the next few weeks. It’s not me. I will defend my cause to the end. I am just one of many people who have been hurt by these accusations and I hope to be the last.” According to the referee, his country’s federation is plagued by nepotism.
Orhan Erdemir, the observer of the referees in question, confined himself to saying that the video of his antics had circulated without his permission… “My honor to my family, my circle of friends and to the sound of the refereeing community in my country has been swept away… In addition to my financial losses, the emotional damage I have suffered is indescribable,” said the man who whistled for almost twenty years at the end of the last century and at the very beginning of the current one.
