The new status of Dan Ndoye – rts.ch

After making a name for himself during the Euro this summer in Germany, Dan Ndoye chose to stay with his club Bologna. In Italy as with the Swiss team, he wants to confirm his new status.

This season, I am expected to make a difference, to score goals. That’s also why I stayed in Bologna, because it’s a role that suits me“, declares Ndoye. The 23-year-old Vaudois has not left Emilia-Romagna, while rumors sent him to Inter Milan after his successful Euro.

I felt it was the right choice for my career to do one more season. I still had things to do in Bologna, and being able to play in the Champions League was a big opportunity“, he explains.

Disappointing start to the season

With Remo Freuler and Michel Aebischer, Ndoye, however, had to adapt to a new coach, Thiago Motta having given in to the sirens of Juventus. He was replaced by ex-Fiorentina coach Vincenzo Italiano.

It’s a new philosophy, a new coach with new ideas. It takes a little time to assimilate everything, especially since many players have had a truncated preparation because of the Euro“, recalls Ndoye. As a result, after a 2023/24 financial year finished in 5th place, Bologna had a disappointing start to the season in Serie A (only one victory) and struggled to score (7 goals in 9 matches).
