Top 14 – Pierre Mignoni (): “Until further notice, I will follow the RCT meetings from the stands”

Two days after a Clermont- which ended in a more than tense climate, Pierre Mignoni returned to these events in the columns of Matin. The Var manager “will follow his team’s meetings from the stands until further notice”.

The images left their mark and provoked a reaction. The last seconds of Clermont-Toulon were marked by refereeing decisions which did not really please the Toulonnais. Defeated 19-18 in Auvergne, the Toulonnais did not hide their dissatisfaction after the meeting. Pierre Mignoni had to be held back by Dany Priso and Baptiste Serin when he wanted to go and discuss with Mr. Marbot, the referee of the match.

In the columns of Be Matinthe Var manager came back, cold, on the events. He notably announced that he will not be on the pitch this Saturday during Racing 92 – Toulon: “Facing Racing and until further notice, I will follow the meetings from the stands. I have objective reasons to have been annoyed, but my reaction is excessive. Whatever the reasons or the feelings, there is no excuse my attitude.”

To this day, we still do not know whether the former scrum-half will be summoned by the disciplinary committee.

Poite and Raynal also reacted

This Monday, Romain Poite and Mathieu Raynal – at the head of the “high performance unit” of French whistles – reacted via a press release. Here it is: “We will follow the usual procedure common to all Top 14 and Pro D2 matches. Firstly, analysis work and an uncompromising technical debriefing will be carried out by the cell with the team of referees. In a secondly, an interview can be organized with the two clubs to discuss the important technical points of the match. This discussion is intended to be constructive to allow everyone to present their technical point of view in order to identify areas for improvement for them. referees as well as players and coaches. Refereeing is constantly questioning itself in order to progress and achieve the expected level of performance.

On the other hand, following the common desire to bring the game’s technicians closer to the refereeing players, put in place since the start of the season, the “hot” attitudes and declarations which followed the end of the match are not acceptable. They go against the work of exchange and improvement that we carry out with all coaches and harm the work of development of refereeing that we do to serve French amateur and professional rugby.”
