A standoff between PSG and the town hall

A true sea serpent, the file for the future PSG stadium took the form of a standoff last winter with the refusal of the town hall to consider a sale of the Parc des Princes to the Qatari owners of the Ile-de-France club, arguing that the enclosure “is a heritage element which belongs to all Parisians” while hoping “that PSG continues to be its user”.

The club therefore decided to explore options for building a new stadium in Île-de-France, reaching out to the region to look for land capable of accommodating such an enclosure. The latter, chaired by Valérie Pécresse, granted this request which it considers legitimate, recalling that “the region is not there to prevent PSG from flourishing in Île-de-France”.
