The return Carter Yakemchuk to the WHL and something is brewing in Ottawa

We just learned that the Ottawa Senators have finally decided to return Carter Yakemchuk with the Calgary Hitmen in the WHL.

A decision that is not unanimous among fans, many of whom hoped to be able to see him play a few games of the season regularly.

1st round pick in 2024, 7th overall, Yakemchuk had an incredible training camp and quickly won the hearts of fans. The 19-year-old 6’4 207 lb guard is destined for a bright future in the big league.

If disappointment has been present since the announcement of Yakemchuk’s return to the WHL, Steve Staios would currently be very busy and there could be action among the Sens in the coming hours.

On the X platform, formerly called Twitter, Bruce Garrioch writes this (in English):

« The #Sens are likely considering claiming a left-handed D shooter on waivers today, now that they have sent Carter Yakemchuk down to junior. (No, I’m not talking about Erik Brannstrom) »

Something is therefore brewing on the Ottawa side and it is not impossible to see Steve Staios turn his choice towards a defenseman on waivers.

There is likely to be action in the NHL today as there are many players who could be claimed, including Ryan Suzukithe brother of Nick Suzukias well as Jakob Pelletier.
