MLB Series: Padres crush Dodgers 10-2 in Game 2

Five different batters hit the long ball, and the San Diego Padres responded to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday night by decisively winning, 10-2, Game 2 of their division series.

This confrontation is now tied with a victory everywhere before moving to Petco Park, where matches Nos. 2 and 3 will be played on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The six long balls hit by the Padres represent a new high in franchise history.

While the visitors’ at-bats were heard, starter Yu Darvish excelled, working seven innings on the mound, allowing just one run to the Dodgers.

Star shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. kicked things off with a home run, his second in as many games, to break the ice in an emotional second game.

This same Tatis came back to charge in the ninth round to punctuate a one-sided duel with his third bomb of the series.

David Peralta, Jackson Merrill, Xander Bogaerts and Kyle Higashioka also stretched their arms during this important statement from San Diego players.

Author of a shattering three-run home run in the first duel, Shohei Ohtani was held in check by Darvish and reliever Tanner Scott.

The Japanese superstar didn’t have a hit in four plate appearances, and he was struck out twice.

While Darvish was multiplying outs at a breakneck pace, his opposite number Jack Flaherty had more problems, having conceded three earned runs in the first two innings.

The Dodgers right-hander recovered somewhat to finally work for five and a third innings, not without allowing four runs.

Visibly unhappy with the enthusiasm displayed by his opponent Manny Machado, Flaherty let him know his way of thinking after removing him in the top of the sixth inning.

The rivals exchanged insults while Flaherty, removed from the game, was in the Dodgers dugout.

This is just one example of multiple altercations that occurred in Game 2, as officials had to suspend play when Dodgers fans began throwing objects onto the field while the Padres were on defense. .

Tatis and Jurickson Profar were the main targets of a particularly acrimonious group of Dodgers fans.
