World Cup: Morocco beats Spain

Algeria Football– The debate around the stadium which will host the final of the 2030 World Cup, co-organized by Morocco, Spain and Portugal, continues to rage. While the tripartite commission strives to distribute matches and stadiums between the three countries, Morocco is doing everything possible to convince its partners that the new Casablanca stadium, with a capacity of 115,000 seats, is the ideal site for this global event.

The Cherifian kingdom is making great strides in the race to host the final. This dynamic has intensified recently, notably after FIFA threatened to withdraw the organization of the tournament from Spain due to the absence of an elected president at the head of the Spanish Football Federation. This situation has caused concern among the media and sports fans in Spain, who fear losing a major sporting event to Morocco.

For their part, Portugal made it clear that they were not interested in hosting the opening matches or the final. This exacerbated the competition between Morocco and Spain for the right to host the final match of the tournament. In addition, FIFA put pressure on the Spanish Federation by threatening to withdraw the organization of the World Cup if a new president was not elected within 20 days of the announcement.

This delicate context for Spain has attracted the attention of the Spanish media, including the newspaper *L’Opinion*, which reported that FIFA and UEFA recently met with the Royal Spanish Football Federation and the Superior Sports Council to warn them of the illegal situation of the Spanish Federation, which has been without a president for some time.

FIFA legal director Emilio Garcia Silver has reportedly issued an ultimatum to Spanish officials. They are now faced with two choices: organize elections as soon as possible to appoint a new president of the Federation or face strict measures from football’s governing bodies. If no president is elected, Spain risks losing the chance to host the 2030 World Cup.

It is important to note that the current crisis in the Spanish Federation stems from the suspension of its former president, Pedro Rocha, by the Spanish sports court last July. Rocha was suspended for two years and fined 33,000 euros for having exceeded his prerogatives by dismissing the former secretary general of the Federation, Andrés Campos.
