???? The divide is enormous between the Anderlecht players, the rest of Lotto Park and the Mauves Army: “They want to send a signal, but we want respect” – Tout le football

The Mauves Army 2003 took advantage of this Clasico to send a message: no football without supporters, including visitors. The main team of Anderlecht therefore boycotted the first twelve minutes of the match. However, David Hubert’s players also had a message to convey.

The scene was completely surprising this Sunday. Since their Liège counterparts were deprived of travel, the Mauves Army 2003, the main team of Anderlecht, expressed their dissatisfaction. A pre-match banner, as well as the first twelve minutes of boycott.

The rest of the stadium didn’t like it. When the Mauves Army entered their stand, they were booed, jeered, insulted by the rest of Lotto Park. “Shame on you, you’re fucking shit” and others, the reaction was unanimous.

Anderlecht players deliberately avoided the Mauves Army

Last Thursday, at Real Sociedad, the Anderlecht players went to greet their audience despite the big excesses that occurred in the stand. A reaction which had earned a lot of criticism from a Brussels workforce which understood the lesson. This time, the Mauves did not go to celebrate the victory in the Clasico with the MA 03.

An intentional reaction, as Mario Stroeykens explained. “They can protest, but should they do it on such a beautiful afternoon of football and during a Clasico? If they want respect, then we can also ask for it,” said Stroeykens, who shone in of this meeting.

They wanted to send a signal, but we also want respect.”

“They wanted to send a signal, we thanked them, but we also want respect. It’s a shame that they chose to send such a signal today. If they want visiting fans again, they must lead by example themselves.”

“What happened at Sociedad will not help. It will not encourage the Pro League to allow visiting fans again. We have to act in the right way. We have accelerated, so as not to make a big deal around that.”

The Mauves Army against the rest?

In the aisles of Lotto Park, this Sunday, we are reminded that we are less and less condoning the actions of the Mauves Army. Several supporters fear in particular having their European trip to Riga or Prague, most of which already booked, canceled.

The rift between the club’s most influential group of supporters and the rest of Lotto Park appears very real. “This group of supporters will never be above the club,” we were told after the meeting. It remains to be seen whether the international truce will calm the heat, or find common ground…
