the nightmarish evening experienced by the Frenchman against his training club

This Sunday evening, Antoine Griezmann was back on the Real Sociedad pitch with his club Atlético Madrid. On the other hand, the reunion went very badly.

Trained at the club, played 202 times, scored 52 goals… Antoine Griezmann left his mark on the history of Real Sociedad where he grew up as a player but also and above all as a man. And yet… Back this Sunday evening “at home” with his club Atlético Madrid, the French international – who recently announced the end of his career with the Blues – was booed, whistled and insulted by the Basque supporters. According to Sports World death threats were even chanted by the public: “Griezmann, die!”

Faced with this shameful situation, the Real Sociedad club tried to calm its supporters… in vain. “No to racist, xenophobic and intolerant chants. Encourage and support the team while respecting the rival. This is the message displayed on the giant screens of the Reale Arena stadium (also called Anoeta).

The public obviously did not respect this message and continued to whistle and boo their former “darling”. In this hostile, shameful and revolting atmosphere, Griezmann nevertheless worked hard to try to make his team win. He even delivered an assist after a magnificent backheel on Alvarez’s goal. But the Frenchman could not avoid his team’s match (1-1).
