NFL: Ravens inflict heartbreaking 41-38 overtime defeat on Bengals

CINCINNATI, Ohio – Joe Burrow had a career-high five touchdown passes, but it was not enough for the Cincinnati Bengals, who suffered a heartbreaking overtime loss Sunday, 41-38 against the Ravens from Baltimore.

The Ravens (3-2) saw their winning streak extend to three, notably thanks to the brilliance of Lamar Jackson, who totaled four touchdowns and 348 air yards.

Baltimore made its division rivals pay dearly after a missed field goal by Evan McPherson in overtime.

McPherson missed 53 yards after a fumble, so the Ravens began their offensive sequence at their own 43.

Immediately after the failed attempt by the Bengals kicker, Derrick Henry started the visitors’ second offensive series in overtime with a monstrous 51-yard gain.

Until he showed himself to be opportunistic at the best of times, “ King » Henry had been held in check by the Cincinnati defense. At the end of the fourth quarter, he had 31 yards on twelve carries.

Cincy, which thought it was on track to obtain its first success in three games in front of its fans this season, finds itself with a record of 1-4 after starting the calendar with three losses in a row.

Receivers Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins contributed to Burrow’s prolific afternoon of work by catching two passes for the major each.

Chase finished the game with 193 yards on ten receptions. Higgins secured nine balls for 83 yards.

Tireless kicker Justin Tucker scored a career-high 56 yards after the mandatory two-minute timeout to bring the two clubs back to square one, at 38-38.

This same Tucker completed the Ravens’ remarkable comeback by hitting the mark on short distance after Henry’s impressive run.

In the victory for John Harbaugh’s troops, the tight end added two short touchdowns to his haul. He had three catches for 13 yards.

Charlie Kolar and Rashod Bateman were Jackson’s other targets for passing touchdowns, while Zay Flowers had 111 yards on seven receptions.
