CAF collaborates with the “Football for the Goals” initiative set up by the United Nations to promote awareness of Sustainable Development

CAF has joined the United Nations “Football for the Goals” initiative, thus affirming its commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The intention of this collaboration is to harness the unifying power of football to promote the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and tackle societal issues, with a focus on education and the fight against poverty.

This cooperation will give CAF the opportunity to include the SDGs in its football and youth development projects across Africa.

By leveraging the collective passion for football, CAF is ideally placed to engage countries and communities across Africa and champion actions that promote sustainable development.

CAF President, Dr Patrice Motsepe, expressed his satisfaction saying: “We are very happy with the significant progress made over the last three years to achieve our goals related to football and social upliftment. This includes investing in youth and creating opportunities for women in sport, as well as in our communities. CAF and its 54 member associations are committed to working in cooperation with the United Nations to promote and implement the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in order to build a better Africa and a better world. We are proud to play a small role in promoting and achieving these SDGs through football, the most popular sport on our continent and around the world. »

Among the striking illustrations of CAF’s involvement is the African Schools Football Championship, which has influenced the lives of more than 800,000 children, both boys and girls, in more than 44 African countries over the years. last two years.

This initiative aims to improve the health and well-being of schoolchildren through their active participation in school football, while strengthening gender equality by providing opportunities, training and cash prizes for all students, whether they are boys or girls.
