QMJHL: The Phoenix continues its successes and triumphs against the Drakkar

Charles Antoine-Beauregard scored a goal and added an assist and was the mainstay of a 2-1 victory for the Sherbrooke Phoenix against the Baie-Comeau Drakkar in one of the four games on the schedule of the Maritimes Quebec Junior Hockey League, Saturday.

After losing their first game of the calendar in Drummondville, the Phoenix have now won their last five outings to climb to the top of the Western Conference standings.

Beauregard scored the first goal of the game at 6:35 of the opening period. He added his assist on Hugo Primeau’s goal midway through the second period.

The other Phoenix star was goaltender Linards Feldbergs, who blocked 36 pucks, including 20 in the third period. He only gave in to Raoul Boilard halfway through the third period.

Huskies resist the Armada

In Rouyn-Noranda, the Huskies scored the first three goals of the match in an interval of less than 24 minutes and resisted a comeback attempt to finally sign a 3-2 victory over the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada.

Following a two-goal performance, Bill Zonnon collected two assists for the Huskies.

Zonnon first assisted on Ty Higgins’ goal with five minutes left in the first period. He then participated in the eventual victorious goal, that of Lars Steiner, at 3:04 of the second period.

Evan Courtois scored the Huskies’ other goal at 7:49 of the first period.

About two minutes after Steiner’s goal, Ludovik Grenier scored the Armada’s first goal.

Mateo Nobert finished with just under three minutes left in regulation.

The Foreurs take on the Olympics

In Val-d’Or, the Foreurs scored two late goals in the first period and beat the Gatineau Matériaux 4-1.

Jordan Labelle first broke the 0-0 tie at 18:26 of the opening period and Alexandre Guy doubled the Foreurs’ lead at 19:57.

Donovan Arsenault, early in the second period, and Nathan Baril, in an empty net towards the end of the third period, scored the other goals for the Foreurs.

Jérémie Minville scored the only goal for theOlympics at the expense of goalkeeper Cédric Massé, who blocked 34 pucks.

Tivey inspire les Sea Dogs

In St. John’s, Nate Tivey scored a goal and added an assist in a 70-second span in the first period, and the Sea Dogs beat the Charlottetown Islanders 3-2.

Tivey scored at 8:38 of the first period and then assisted on Eriks Matelko’s goal.

William Yared scored the other goal for the Sea Dogs, who have won their last four games.

Nathan Leek and Matthew Butler scored for the Islanders.
