CPL – Disaster scenario for RSCA Futures

In Challenger Pro League, the Futures lost again this afternoon. With one point in seven matches, the young Brussels residents occupy last place in the standings. Relegation in amateur football is not a pipe dream for the second team of the historic champion.

On the sidelines of the Clasico, there was another “topper” this afternoon. In the Challenger Pro League, the youngsters from Racing Genk and Anderlecht faced each other. Both teams have failed to live up to expectations this season. More than that, the youngsters from Anderlecht were still looking for their first victory.

Genk talents dominate

The Genk youngsters started with a lot of dynamism and also created the first chances. Claes tried a good shot, but his shot went just wide.

The Mauve et Blanc needed help from the home team to create chances, a mistake from the Genk defense allowed Sylla to go off alone towards Penders, who once again showed why Chelsea had come for him for several million. At halftime the score was still 0-0.

Futures frustrated once again

Returning from the locker room, Genk quickly opened the scoring: Touré received the ball in the penalty area and skillfully beat Schlieck to make it 1-0. Anderlecht then did everything they could to try and equalize, and were unlucky to see a fantastic Lapage free-kick crash off the post.

In the final moments, the home team still missed a few chances, but eventually won the match. The Futures therefore find themselves with a dramatic record of one point out of 21 and are clearly threatened with relegation.

Progress of the match: 1-0 (49′) Touré
