Football: the US Orléans women have their first victory of the season

The Orléanaises dominated Evian-Thonon (3-1), Sunday October 6, thanks to a second period of high quality. Kenza Abidi delighted, with a magnificent free kick and two assists.

The US Orléans women, beaten in Saint-Malo and during the first two days of the Second League, rectified the situation at home by dominating Evian-Thonon (3-1) on Sunday October 6.

In difficulty in the first period

And yet things got off to a bad start with the Savoyardes opening the scoring in the 23rd minute, on a strike from Margot Esposito triggered at the entrance to the Orléans penalty area.

In the 38th minute, a face-off won by goalkeeper Audrey Dupupet, at the expense of Salma Zemzem (who arrived in Evian this summer from the USO), left the Loirétaines in the game at the break.

Kenza Abizi decisive

The USO’s surge materialized in the 57th minute, thanks to Pauline Cousin, who took over a nice offering from Kenza Abizi, for the Orléans equalizer. Six minutes later, Kenza Abizi allowed US Orléans to take the lead (2-1, 63rd), with a splendid free kick, which ended in the top corner.

Abizi stood out a third time, in the 71st minute, by alerting Namnata Traoré in the middle, who was playing the Savoy goalkeeper with a stolen ball. She then took charge by sending the ball deep (3-1), while an Evian Thonon defender seemed able to prevent the goal.

In the final, the visiting team pushed hard, but Audrey Dupupet repelled all attempts, to offer the USO a deserved success. Régis Mohar’s protégés will try to confirm their recovery in Toulouse, Sunday October 13.
