L2: and give the League a helping hand

The disciplinary committee of the Professional Football League had banned supporters from traveling to this Saturday. But the latter were very present in the visitors’ parking lot at the Ornano stadium.

Annoyed to see Merlus fans pointing laser beams at the Beinsports cameras in order to contest the delay of the Ligue 2 multiplex, the policeman of professional football decided on Wednesday evening to prohibit Merlus supporters from making the trip to Caen. However, to everyone’s surprise, there were more than 120 present this Saturday in the Caen stadium and in the area reserved for them. With the Lorient victory in , the celebration was total for these supporters who owe this gift only to a decision of the Caen prefecture which risks making noise both in Ligue 2 and in Ligue 1. Because it It is with the agreement of the local authorities that this presence was authorized despite the decision of the LFP disciplinary committee.

The prefect decides to authorize Lorient supporters

Indeed, these FC Lorient fans had secured seats for the match, but in areas other than the visitors’ parking lot. Having learned that a trip of two buses was being prepared, the Caen prefecture and Kylian Mbappé’s club decided not to take risks. And it is therefore the Prefect who, in order not to leave these 120 supporters at the stadium gates, gave authorization for the opening of the area reserved for visiting fans, preferring to avoid possible incidents.

It was therefore completely legally that all this took place, the supporters of Caen and Lorient having even planned banners which responded to each other and pointed out the behavior of the Professional Football League, which was also targeted by insulting songs. It remains to be seen whether this will now set a precedent and whether other prefects will decide to defy the decisions of the LFP if supporters travel despite the ban, which until now was very rare.
