Held this year a week before the Tour of Lombardy, Paris-Tours stay a reference in the world calendar and THE last big meeting of the season in France. For the 118th edition of the other “Classic of dead leaves“, which will take place this Sunday, October 6,No change is to be reported compared to last year’s route, and there are therefore 213.8 kilometers that will have to be covered between Chartres, where the start will be given, and Tours. Introduced on the route in 2018, the vineyard paths will obviously be there, as will some bumps from Indre-et-Loire. In total, there will be ten white paths and eight hills in the last 70 kilometers, which once again promises a good part of the cranks.

A trio Philipsen – De Lie – Pedersen as favorites
If the French event is no longer as favorable to sprinters as before on paper, the fast men still have a good chance of winning on Avenue de Grammont, and there will be many of them at the start this Sunday. Jasper Philipsen (Alpecin-Deceuninck), Arnaud De Lie (Lotto Dstny) et Mads Pedersen (Lidl-Trek) are very clearly the three headliners to follow. Fit and versatile, they are capable of taming these famous gravels to win, whether after a massive sprint or a movement race. Magnus Cort (Uno-X Mobility), Matteo Trentin (Tudor Pro Cycling Team) or Mike Teunissen (Intermarché-Wanty) are also credible outsiders.
As for French chances, Christophe Laporte (Visma Lease a Bike) et Arnaud Démare (Arkéa – B&B Hotels), former double winners in 2021 and 2022, represent the best hopes, even if we will also have to count on Emilien Jeannière, Anthony Turgis (TotalEnergies), Valentin Madouas or even Paul Penhoet (Groupama – FDJ). Winner to everyone’s surprise last year, the American Riley Sheehan (Israel-Premier Tech) will be present to defend his title, as will Lewis Askey (Groupama-FDJ) and Tobias Halland Johannessen (Uno-X Mobility), present on the 2023 podium. A surprise can never be ruled out on Paris-Toursand it could come from runners like Milan Fretin (Cofidis), Taco van der Hoorn, Laurenz Rex (Intermarché-Wanty), Antonio Morgado (UAE Team Emirates), Oliver Naesen (Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale)…
