At Anderlecht, the search for a new coach continues. And if many names have circulated, this is not the case for that of Steven Defour, who is however free from any contract.
Coach of Mechelen, he ended up being fired last season, the one who passed through Antwerp, Standard, Anderlecht and Mechelen as a player currently occupies the role of consultant and it seems that he will stay there for now.
“I became more demanding”
“I have already received several offers, but I have become more demanding. I will only sign for a project in which I feel 100%. My next job must correspond to my philosophy and my ambition”, explains Defour to the Last Hour.
What is certain is that Defour will not make his return to Anderlecht, where his popularity rating is not very high due to his past at Standard. A club where he also has a rating which has fallen due to his time with Brussels.
“No, it’s still too sensitive. I am open to a healthy club with an ambitious project. I have the luxury of not having to accept all the positions that arise because financially I am comfortable. The only reason to take a team must be the game and a club where I can continue to develop as a coach I prefer a club at the top of the ranking,” adds Defour.
If he has never been cited to fill the position left vacant by Brian Riemer, it is therefore not possible to see him on the Anderlecht bench in the coming weeks. Management will therefore have to continue its research to find what it wants.
