Didier Codorniou candidate for president of the FFR

Since last summer, French has been in turmoil. Not a week goes by without a case of violence, racism or drugs. To add to the confusion, the oval world must soon choose a new president. Florian Grill is a candidate for his own succession at the head of the FFR, he is opposed to Didier Codorniou. The former French international, mayor of Gruissan in Aude, is campaigning in New Aquitaine.

It is an impressive tandem which advances that evening at the Stade Léo Cheyrou in Villeréal in Lot-et-Garonne. Didier Codorniou and Jean-Claude Skréla, nearly eighty selections between them under the tricolor jersey, two rugby icons of the seventies and eighties united on the same list. They want to save French rugby.

If I am running for president today it is to give back to rugby what it gave me.

Didier Codorniou

Candidate for president of the FFR

The man nicknamed the “Little Prince” of French rugby is not losing his temper and wants to restore order within the Federation, starting with the management of the French teams.
While Hugo Auradou is announced as the starter this weekend with against , he is demanding sanctions unlike Florian Grill. “They have soiled the tricolor jersey. Yes, they must be sanctioned. When we are in the French team, we must be exemplary. We must review the operation. Fabien Galthié must take care of the athlete, for the rest he must be surrounded.” candidate Codorniou explains to us.

Set an example at the highest level and try to revitalize amateur rugby from its base. Like Florian Grill, he is banking on school sport to restart the machine. “In my time, we played rugby in schoolyards and in sports. Today, rugby has almost disappeared in National Education. We must go to teachers to train them and give them the desire to play.”

The observation is worrying. In twenty years, nearly 800 teams have disappeared in France. To try to stop this phenomenon, Didier Codorniou is proposing strong actions, if he is elected, for amateur rugby. “The Federation devotes thirteen million each year to amateur rugby. We propose to add 3 million more to help them, in particular to compensate for mileage costs” before adding, “we are also considering being able to declare a quarter for retirement After ten years of volunteering in a club, I will soon present the project to the Senate.”

Administrative simplification and maintaining secularism are also among the priorities of candidate Codorniou. The election is scheduled for October 19, 2024, with nearly 30% of voters still undecided.
