Michael Hage made his NCAA debut with the Michigan Wolverines.
In his first official game in the American university circuit, the first round pick of the Montreal Canadiens amassed two assists. The Wolverines, however, fell 5 to 2 to the Minnesota State Mavericks.
After a goalless first period, Hage was quick to make his presence felt in the middle period. He made a perfect pass to William Whiteclaw to allow his team to open the scoring.
The chain then landed on the Michigan side. The Mavericks scored four unanswered goals to take a 4-1 lead. Former Canadiens prospect Rhett Pitlick, who left the University of Minnesota to join Minnesota State, found the back of the net.
Hage once again showcased his passing skills, this time in the third period. He spotted Garrett Schifsky with a great crossfield pass to cut the lead to one goal. Adam Eisele, however, restored his team’s three-goal lead less than three minutes later.
Aged 18, Hage is playing his first season in the NCAA. He spent two years with the Chicago Steel in the USHL, recording 75 points in 54 games last year.
