The public prosecutor’s office in Mendoza, Argentina, ruled on Friday in favor of dismissing the charges for the two French rugby players accused of rape.
Hugo Auradou and Oscar Jegou were released and allowed to return to France at the beginning of September.

At the beginning of September, Hugo Auradou and Oscar Jegou, indicted for aggravated gang rape after accusations made by a complainant in Argentina, were released and authorized to return to France. The lawyer for the two 21-year-old athletes, Antoine Vey, estimated that “all the objective elements collected in the investigation establish no trace of guilt”.

The dismissal examined on October 18
The dismissal of the case will be examined during a closed hearing set for October 18 by the judge in charge of the case, indicated the Argentine prosecutor’s office.
Hugo Auradou and Oscar Jegou, both aged 21, are charged for alleged events that occurred on the night of July 6 to 7 in a hotel room in Mendoza, where the French XV had just played a test match against Argentina. The two players have maintained from the beginning that the sexual relations with the complainant, whom they met in a nightclub, were consensual. And they deny any violence, while the plaintiff’s lawyer mentioned “terrible violence”who saw his client “savagely beaten”.
Hugo Auradou must return to competition this Saturday in the Top 14 where he should start with his club Pau traveling to Perpignan.
