-Stade Toulousain: Geoffrey Palis wants to “put things in order” before welcoming the reigning French champion

the essential
The full-back highlights the importance of not getting caught up in the more pressing environment around the reception. And to keep all the energy for the field.

To what elements do you attribute your good start to the season?

We benefit from a good depth of squad. Honestly, in terms of the quality of the group, it’s one of the best we’ve had. We still have to do the job by taking points and being more efficient. Afterwards, we are also realistic and we know that it sometimes has little to do with it. If we hadn’t had this last try against Racing, events might have turned out differently.

Do we have to adapt more to the Stadium than to other teams?

No not at all. Each preparation is different anyway. But in this case, against Toulouse, the biggest change comes in terms of enthusiasm. We know that the stadium will be sold out, that people are talking about it more in town.

The last derby memories in Pierre-Fabre are quite good for you.

It’s true, and let’s hope it continues. Last time, we had a very good match. We were solid in the commitment, which is of capital importance against this type of team, we started the game well, broke. Above all, we played in the right areas.

Things you manage to do pretty well this season. That must grant you some confidence bonus, right?

We are aware of our ability to do this. Castres’ game is evolving, as are mentalities. We will have to move in that direction, but above all put things in order.

Is it precisely the trap of letting yourself be carried away by the whole environment surrounding this meeting?

Yes, and this has happened to us before. I remember a trip to Ernest-Wallon. We were up like clocks, we arrived the day before in Toulouse when we were playing at 9 p.m., and in the end, we took 40 (0-41, October 23, 2021, Editor’s note). They ran over us. There’s no point in exhausting yourself by entering the game too early.

Is that what you say, as an experienced player, to the younger players?

We actually talk to them. We’ve all been there, and we know it’s easy to get caught up in it all. But you’re letting too much energy go. Let’s stay more on the technical and tactical field than the mental one.
