Club: Margot Dumont apologizes to PSG and defends Luis Enrique

In the heat of the news since her controversial interview with Luis Enrique, journalist Margot Dumont apologized to PSG for the bad buzz caused and also wanted to defend Luis Enrique, accused of arrogance or even misogyny.

Former professional player, Margot Dumont stayed at BeIN Sports for 12 years before moving to Canal+ in recent months. The journalist takes care of post-match flash interviews in the Champions League and has been in the spotlight since Tuesday evening following her interview with Luis Enrique in the wake of PSG’s defeat at Arsenal in the Champions League.

After asking him a question about Ousmane Dembélé to which he did not want to answer, Margot Dumont tried to question Luis Enrique about his tactical framework, presented as rigid by the journalist, which led to this response from the Spaniard : “No, I have no intention of explaining my tactics, because you probably wouldn’t understand. We will have to correct a lot of things as a team, but I have no intention of explaining that.”

A response which angered many journalists and observers, some even accusing Luis Enrique of having shown misogyny, which Margot Dumont quickly tempered on X, explaining that the Parisian coach’s response was intended for the press in general and not specifically to her or her condition as a female journalist.

For Margot Dumont, « Luis Enrique would have answered the same thing to a male journalist”

“Before starting at Canal, I called Ambre Godillon, a friend, who worked at PSG with him for a long time (she works for DAZN today). I wanted to know how it worked. She told me that he was also a feminist, very committed to women’s rights etc. When I met him during the match against Girona (1-0), everything went well. I think that there, after this defeat, he would have actually answered the same thing to a male journalist”she declared to L’Equipe in recent hours.

Margot Dumont also told the sports daily that she had written to PSG to apologize for the bad buzz caused by her interview. She also believes that Luis Enrique’s response was more awkwardness than disrespect and acknowledges that while she would have liked a different response, she may not have used the right words in the face of an angry coach, coming out of a defeat: “Maybe I should have worded my question better, but you can’t be perfect. »

According to RMC Sport, Luis Enrique’s exit was not necessarily appreciated by everyone at PSG, with some internally believing that his response was not well calibrated. Still according to the radio, the Spanish coach would also have difficulty with the treatment of the French press on several subjects, notably Bradley Barcola. A treatment that he would consider excessive, both in the compliments and in the criticisms.
