A sequence from the documentary Movistar Plus+ behind the scenes of PSG shows the Spanish coach trying to convince his star striker to participate in defensive tasks.
Kylian Mbappé is, without doubt, a formidable attacker. But how can we convince him to participate at least in his team’s defensive tasks? Luis Enrique, PSG coach, tried it last season, as revealed in the Spanish channel’s documentary Movistar Plus+, You have no fucking ideawho followed him in his daily life at the Parisian club.
In episode 2, which will be broadcast in full on Monday October 7, a sequence shows the former coach of FC Barcelona and the Spanish team in full individual interview with Mbappé. Like a teacher lecturing his student, Luis Enrique stands in front of his player seated on a chair, and shows him with grand gestures a replay of the PSG-Barcelona match, quarter-final of the last Champions League.
“I want you to leave here through the front door”
The Asturian tries to take the new Real Madrid striker emotionally. He tells her about his affection for Michael Jordan, the former Chicago Bulls basketball player, one of the greatest athletes in history. “I read that you liked Michael Jordan. Michael Jordan grabbed all his teammates by the necks and defended like a son of a bitch”says Enrique to «Ability». He then asks him to be an example for his teammates to follow, arguing that talent alone is not enough to make a team win.

If the last months at PSG and the regular sidelining of Kylian Mbappé from the match sheets may have suggested that the two men were at odds, the sequence does not reveal this. “You are a phenomenon, a world top, without a doubt”says the Spanish technician to his protégé, before concluding: “I want you to leave here through the front door.”
