Skate Canada has been informed of Sport Sans Abuse’s decision and is taking the necessary measures to comply with it. He will therefore no longer be part of the Canadian teamconfirmed the federation.

If Sorensen appeals, the suspension will remain in effect during the proceedings.

The skater was on the Shanghai Trophy schedule with his partner Laurence Fournier Beaudry and the duo was scheduled to skate their rhythm program on Thursday.

The USA Today revealed last January that a former American skater, now a coach, had filed a complaint against Sorensen in US Center for Safesport and at BCIS.

The alleged victim says she was attacked in 2012 after a party in Hartford, Connecticut.

Nikolaj Sorensen had denied the allegations on social media.

I am aware of the allegations made against me. These allegations are false and I intend to strongly defend myself and my reputation, he wrote last January.

The skater and his partner, however, skipped the Canadian Championships which took place a few days after the publication of the American media article.

The duo then continued their season, finishing 9th at the World Championships which took place in Montreal.

Sorensen was born in Denmark and has represented Canada since 2019. He received his citizenship in 2021 and is now 35 years old.
