Bruins offer to Swayman finally known

As goaltender Jeremy Swayman’s contract negotiations continue to garner all the attention within the Boston Bruins, we now know the details of the offer he reportedly received from the team.

On Monday, Bruins president Cam Neely implied that a $64 million offer had been made to Swayman’s camp, saying he would have “64 million reasons to play right now.” The latter’s agent, Lewis Gross, responded on social networks, specifying that no offer of this level had been made.

Or, Frank Seravalli, de The Daily Faceoff, revealed that the Bruins had made an eight-year offer valued at $7.8 million per campaign, for a total of $62.4 million. The Massachusetts team would have made considerable efforts to get as close as possible to Swayman’s demands, which would be around $8.5 million per campaign for eight seasons.

The Bruins would have preferred to offer an agreement valued at $6.5 million per year.

“So the Bruins went from 6.5 [millions] dollars to 7.8 [millions] dollars, they have the impression of having moved a lot, we can read in the article published on the site The Daily FaceoffTuesday. They’re probably thinking, ‘Hey, we moved a ton, now it’s your turn,’ and the fact that that hasn’t happened apparently frustrates them.”

Last year, Swayman posted a 25-10-8 record, a 2.53 goals-against average and a .916 save percentage in 44 games.
