/ Romain Del Castillo: “ helped me a lot to get to where I am”

In an interview with Ouest-, Romain Del Castillo spoke about Stade Rennais, with whom he experienced the Champions League which he is playing this year with Brest.

Stade Brestois did not prepare in the best way for its second European match, with a defeat at this weekend. But the Breton club will try to capitalize on its superb first Champions League match, against Sturm Graz (2-1), to approach a trip to Leipzig tomorrow.

Among the team’s executives, Romain Del Castillo has taken on a whole new dimension since last season. “In Rennes, I had fewer responsibilities. Here, the coach asks me to make the link between the midfield and the attack to properly feed the attackers and that suits me well. I like to make others play as well as possible. I enjoy it a lot”he confides to Ouest-France.

The attacking midfielder also claims not to take revenge after his time in Rennes. ” No not at all. On the contrary, Rennes helped me a lot to get where I am. I learned a lot there, worked a lot. And I think it’s paying off now. Rennes helped me in my progress and in extra-sporting work. Knowing the professional world better helped me a lot.”

With 8 goals and 8 assists in 36 games, Del Castillo played a central role last season in securing a historic Champions League qualification for Brest. In 6 games this season, he has already scored two goals and provided an assist.
