Alexis Lebrun, it’s over!

Opposed to his tormentor from the Olympics, the Brazilian Hugo Calderano, in the 32nd final of the Grand Smash of China this Monday, Alexis Lebrun was once again beaten.

New disappointment for Alexis Lebrun. For his big return to competition after the enchanted parenthesis of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the 21-year-old French table tennis player fell this Monday, in 32e of the Grand Smash of China. He lost to world number 3, Hugo Calderano, who had already eliminated him at the Olympics at the 8 stagee final (4 sets to 1).

Although he defended himself well, Alexis Lebrun, bronze medalist during the Olympic team tournament, nevertheless recorded a scathing defeat in three sets (11-7, 11-9, 13-11). He will therefore not join his little brother Félix, who rose to the top in 16e in the final after dismissing the Pole Milosz Redzimski (3 sets to 1).

Not an easy draw for Alexis Lebrun

It must be said that Alexis Lebrun’s draw was far from being a gift. However, if he had managed to create the feat against the Brazilian, he would have opened up his part of the table and could, potentially, have gone far in the competition. Which will therefore not be the case.

Note that a little earlier in the day, Charlotte and Camille Lutz faced the Chinese pair made up of Chen Yi and Xu Yi. The Alsatian sisters almost prolonged the suspense after losing the first two sets, but they finally lost in three sets (9-11, 4-11, 10-12).
