Anderlecht Online – Nouvelle défeite des RSCA Futures (29 Sept. 24)

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 29, 2024, 7:57 p.m. – DavidBxl

1B – MATCHS Still looking for their first victory, the RSCA Futures hosted, in the Tubize facilities, Zulte-Waregem which is one of the favorites for promotion to D1A. The weeks follow each other and are similar for the Coen players. They were not unworthy but they were beaten again despite two goals from Vergeylen (in photo). They believed in it until the end but the score was painful again and ended with a 2-3 defeat.

Deprived of Vanhoutte, Degreef and Robbrechts, coach Jelle Coen once again had to modify his squad. He would have liked to count on De Cat, who had returned from injury, at the kick-off, but he was not yet ready to start a match and had to be content with an appearance in the game. Degreef was not selectable because he had played too many minutes the day before with the first team to be eligible, according to the regulations, to be taken into account.

The match ideally began with the opening goal by Vergeylen after receiving a lost ball. Zulte-Waregem then came back into the match and were dangerous on two occasions but goalkeeper Schlieck kept watch. However, it was only a postponed game since the referee awarded them a penalty which nevertheless seemed very limited. Sylla cleared the ball but in his gesture he then touched the opponent. Should a foul be called for this type of operation? The other question is whether the contact took place within the rectangle, which is highly debatable. Vossen didn’t ask himself these questions and calmly converted the penalty to put the two teams back on level terms.

Better in the match, Zulte-Waregem then added a 2nd goal on a movement which perforated the defensive right flank of the mauves. Anderlecht’s hopes gave the impression of having taken a blow to the head but still managed to equalize through Vergeylen who was again on the receiving end of a loose ball following an intervention by a defender and calmly placed out of reach of the goalkeeper to make it 2-2.

Sometimes mishandled before the break, the purples were in little difficulty in the 2nd half. They were more present in the opposing camp, but when we expected it in the month they conceded a goal which proved fatal in the end. While they had a great opportunity to take the lead, they were surprised by a quick counterattack from Zulte-Waregen which made it 2-3.

Anderlecht resolutely threw all its strength into getting back into a tie but it was in vain despite two great chances. Lapage sent a long shot which forced the goalkeeper to relax for a corner and Dom put in a header which ended up on the top of the crossbar.

The RSCA Futures did well against a title contender but they were once again punished for their inexperience and current flaws. To get out of the red zone, there is no longer any need to procrastinate. They absolutely must win next weekend at Youth Genk.
