The English media are panicking over Leandro Trossard

In the English Premier League, Arsenal achieved a feat on Saturday. While the defending champion, Manchester City, lost two points to Newcastle, the runner-up took all three points against Leicester City. And Leandro Trossard is no stranger to it.

The Red Devil was already one of the Gunners’ satisfactions last season. With 17 goals and 2 assists, Trossard showed that he could be very useful. However, he started the current campaign as a substitute.

Decisive Trossard

Martin Ødegaard’s injury, however, allowed him to regain a starting place. But last weekend he received a very controversial red card during the match against Manchester City. As a result, he was suspended midweek for the cup match against Bolton Wanderers.

On Saturday, Trossard was back for the championship match against Leicester. And that turned out to be good news for the Gunners. Just before halftime, he put his team up 2-0. The Foxes then created a surprise by coming back to score just after half-time, but in stoppage time, Trossard finally allowed his team to win by forcing an own goal.

The praising English press

His performance is no less impressive and the English press has been full of praise for him. In The Sun, for example, he was described as “man of the match”, with a rating of 9 out of 10 for his performance. “The hero of Arsenal. He scored the second goal and also contributed the decisive third goal. A very important player for the Gunners,” writes The Evening Standard.

On Football.London, we can read that Trossard had a lucky break on the third goal. “But he deserved it after such a performance,” they add. “The Belgian produced an excellent and energetic performance,” observes football media 90Min, “What an impact! This kind of contribution could prove crucial at the end of the season,” concludes the British branch of Goal.com.
