“I don’t see”, the terrible sequence between and the doctor before the end of his fight against Moicano

In the main event of UFC 3 on Saturday, Benoît lost to Renato Moicano after a medical decision (TKO). Severely injured, the Frenchman was prevented from resuming the fight in the third round, after the doctor noted that he could no longer see in his right eye.

A huge disillusionment. At the end of the third edition of UFC Paris which once again kept all its promises on Saturday, Benoît Saint Denis was beaten by the Brazilian Renato Moicano after a stoppage by the referee just before the third round. With his eyes completely swollen and his face bloody due to the multitude of blows to the head received during almost five minutes in the first round, the new star of French MMA saw the French doctor Jean-Marc Sène put an end to the massacre just before the third round.

“I’m going to do some tests and you’re going to tell me how many fingers I have,” the latter ordered him at the end of the second round, asking the fighter to close his right eye. “Three, two, one. Three, two”, the Frenchman first responds, successfully. But the test is not conclusive on the other side. “I don’t see,” BSD concedes as the doctor covers his left eye and shows him three fingers. “And how many?” asks the doctor, presenting two fingers. “I can’t see,” he repeats, his right eye completely closed.

“But I can see with my left eye”

“We stop because he can no longer see out of his right eye. We have to stop,” declared Jean-Marc Sène to the referee. To the great dismay of Benoît Saint Denis. “But I can see with my left eye,” he tried to plead. Without success. Despite a second round won by the Frenchman on the judges’ card, it was the Brazilian who won by TKO, after ten devastating minutes of combat.

This is another setback for Benoît Saint Denis, who was looking to get back on track after the setback at UFC 299 in Miami against Dustin Poirier. While this fight in the French capital was a great opportunity to put himself back in the race for the lightweight title, he is now under threat of dropping out of the top 15. On X (formerly Twitter), the “God of War ” still wanted to reassure his fans after this disillusionment. “It wasn’t my day,” he admitted, while putting things into perspective. “God puts trials in our path and this one is nothing compared to what I have experienced.”
