Gottéron takes a first step in the right direction

After the match lost on Friday in Kloten, the Freiburgers remained in their locker room for a long time. They questioned themselves and it showed 24 hours later when they showed up on the ice at the BCF-Arena. For the first time this season, while hosting the Zurich Lions, the Dragons played for 60 minutes.

Not everything was perfect. Far from it. For example, Gottéron still has difficulty scoring. It’s not Benoit Jecker, who found Simon Hrubec’s post at the end of the first third, who will say the opposite. We had to wait until the 25th minute for Jacob De la Rose’s opening score.

Two goals canceled

A few minutes later, the “Z” thought they had equalized, but the goal was canceled by the referees for an obvious high cane. Another twist during the second third: Gottéron scores 2-0, but the coach challenge requested by the visitors reveals an offside by Marcus Sörensen.

The Friborgs clung to their small advantage. Pushed by their audience, they did not panic and only backed down at the very end of the match, when Simon Hrubec left his cage empty to allow a sixth field player to be on the ice. It was finally Nathan Marchon who ended the suspense by making it 2-0.

This victory will do Gottéron a lot of good. There is still work to be done, but we finally have the feeling that the Dragons are on the right track. They will try to confirm it on Tuesday evening when they receive Genève-Servette.
