The FSBB Steering Committee has adopted resolutions for the next season!

This Saturday, September 28, 2024, the Steering Committee of the Senegalese Basketball Federation (FSBB) held a meeting to examine and approve the activity and financial reports for the 2022-2023 season. Discussions also focused on setting the start of the 2024-2025 season.

ASC Ville de Dakar won the championship for both boys and girls during the previous season, after a remarkable run. The municipal team will therefore represent Senegal at the next BAL for men and at the African Women’s Club Cup for the second consecutive year for women.

“It is brought to your attention that the Steering Committee of the Senegalese Basketball Federation, meeting this Saturday, September 28, 2024, has taken the following resolutions:

Activity and financial reports for the 2022-2023 season were adopted by acclamation;

General information meeting : the AGI initially scheduled for October 5 has been postponed to October 19, 2024.

National tournament for promotion to D1 : it will be set in the second half of October. A circular will be published very soon.

Basketball night : the FSBB will organize this event on Saturday December 21, 2024 and will take the opportunity to celebrate the winners as well as the fiftieth anniversary of the first women’s continental title won in 1974.

2024/2025 Sports Season:

The Big 4 Opening Tournament will take place on December 22, 2024;

The first day of the D1 men’s and women’s national championship is scheduled for December 28, 2024.

A circular relating to the administrative opening of the season will be published later.

A slight change has been made to the formula of the elite championship, in particular with regard to the number of teams placed in play-down, which will be reduced to four in order to give more sporting importance to this phase of the competitions.

On the international level, the FSBB informs that Senegal has the honor of hosting the organization of Window 2 of the 2025 Men’s Afrobasket Qualifiers for groups A (South Sudan, Mali, DR Congo, Mozambique) and B (Senegal, Gabon, Cameroon, Rwanda) which will take place from November 22 to 24, 2024 in Dakar.

The ASC Ville de Dakar team has also been appointed organizer of the 28th African Cup of Women’s Clubs (Africa Women Basketball League) scheduled for December 6 to 15, 2024.
