-In late August, the team announced that the remaining year of the 32-year-old forward’s contract was being terminated for what the Flyers called a “material breach” of the contract.
Johansen never played for the Flyers after being acquired from the Colorado Avalanche at the trade deadline last March due to a hip injury. The Flyers planned to place Johansen on waivers immediately after acquiring him, but were unable to do so due to the injury.
Johansen appeared in 63 games last season for the Avalanche, scoring 13 goals and adding 10 assists.
Upon news of his contract termination, Johansen’s agent, Kurt Overhardt, released a statement disputing the Flyers’ characterization.
