Pacioretty very comfortable with the idea of wearing the jersey of a CH rival

A few years ago, seeing forward Max Pacioretty wearing the jersey of a rival Montreal Canadiens team was unimaginable for many of the club’s fans.

This is now indeed the case: Pacioretty signed a professional tryout contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs in the middle of September. Asked about this, the former captain of the Habs seems to see no problem in playing for one of the worst enemies of the organization that drafted him.

“My kids say it’s the best jersey I’ve ever worn, in terms of how it fits me,” he said in comments relayed by David Alter of The Hockey News on Thursday.

“But no, it’s such an honor to wear both jerseys, two original teams, and obviously the history of the two teams. It’s not weird at all. I’m proud of that,” continued the 35-year-old winger.

Even if he still does not have a regular agreement in his pocket with the team of the Queen City, Pacioretty seems to put all the chances on his side to get there. During his first preseason game with the Maple Leafs, Sunday against the Ottawa Senators, the former Vegas Golden Knights scored two goals and an assist in a 6-5 overtime defeat for his team.

He will also return to action Thursday evening when the Canadian visits Scotiabank Arena.
