Investigation opened in England against Montenegrin player accused of biting

THE SPORTS SCAN – Milutin Osmajic, a striker for Preston in the English second division, is alleged to have bitten an opponent playing for Blackburn.

An investigation has been opened by English football authorities against Preston’s Montenegrin international striker (2nd division), Milutin Osmajic, accused of biting an opponent of the Blackburn club on Sunday.

Osmajic, 25, is accused of biting Blackburn defender Owen Beck at the end of Sunday’s 0-0 draw with Preston and Blackburn in the Championship, according to a statement from the Football Association (FA).

“It is alleged that the attacker committed an act of violence by biting an opponent around the 87th minute.”FA wrote, specifying that Osmajic had until Monday to respond to the accusations.

Blackburn manager John Eustace said in the post-match press conference that his player had “a big bite mark on the back of the neck.”

There have been other bites in the history of the English football league. Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez, who now plays for Inter Miami, has been punished several times during his career. He was notably given a 10-match ban while playing for Liverpool after biting Chelsea player Branislav Ivanovic in April 2013.
