Mourinho already putting pressure on Osimhen because he “dives too much”

José Mourinho has a small problem with Victor Osimhen. On the bench of Fenerbahce since this summer, the Portuguese technician has closely followed the signing with great fanfare of Victor Osimhen in the ranks of the great rival Galatasaray this summer. For a long time courted by PSG and Chelsea, the Nigerian star was finally loaned by Naples to the most successful club in Turkey. A welcome arrival for Mourinho who nevertheless revealed having a problem with the former Lille player.

“I don’t like the way he behaves. He dives too much.”

“I have no problem with Victor,” the former Chelsea manager told HT Spor. “Actually, we have a very good relationship. But every time I play against him, I talk to him because I don’t like the way he behaves. He dives too much. I told him: ‘listen, you are one of the two best African players, you and (Mohamed) Salah’.”

Mourinho crossed paths with Osimhen during his two and a half years on the AS Roma bench (2021-2024) while the Nigerian wore the colours of Naples. And according to the “Special One”, the former top scorer in L1 has every interest in removing this element of bluff from his game to match the greatest African stars in history. “In the past, Didier Drogba, Samuel Eto’o, George Weah,” he lists. “You can’t behave like that. He dives too much. That’s my problem with him. But after 10 minutes, it’s fine. We have a very good relationship and for the Turkish championship, it’s fantastic and for Galatasaray, it’s fantastic too.”

He will be able to tell him all the good things he thinks about him in a week since the two big rivals of the Turkish championship are due to face each other on September 21. Osimhen is due to make his debut against Rizespor.
