Indispensable Pape Chérif Ndiaye. After a slight dip in form observed in recent weeks and three matches started on the substitutes’ bench, the Senegalese striker of Red Star, author of 15 goals in 39 matches during his first season (2023-2024) under these colours, found the back of the net in a very fine manner in the 174th Eternal Derby opposing his team to Partizan on Monday. The former player of Adana Demirspor scored a hat-trick in this match, for a 4-0 victory for his team, solid leaders of the Championship.

Unprecedented in this derby for… 56 years

In addition to having folded the eternal rival, who became his favorite prey in Serbia, Chérif Ndiaye has entered the legend of the greatest opposition in Serbian football. Author of his 4th, 5th and 6th goals in a Partizan – Red Star, the 28-year-old player has become the fifth footballThe player in history scored a hat-trick in an eternal Derby. Before him, Jovan Jezerkić, Marko Volok, Milan Galić and Stevan Ostojić had achieved it. But it was a while ago, since the last hat-trick, that of Ostojić, was in 1968, 56 years ago, in the 43rd eternal Derby.

Like what he already showed in Turkey, under the jersey of Göztepe (24 goals, 5 assists in 73 matches) then that of Adana Demirspor (13 goals and 5 assists in 20 matches), Chérif Ndiaye has been unplayable since he arrived at Red Star Belgrade. Recruited in the summer 2023 for a record amount at the time (4 million euros), the former HLM player from Grand-Yoff now has 22 goals and 5 assists in 48 matches with the team with which he won the Championship and the Serbian Cup last season.
